Gale Obler’s Stained Glass

About Me

bathroom_installI love creating with Stained Glass. Being an artist is not merely my profession, but the essence of who I am. Physically manifesting what I Imagine, the reflections of my Spirit connecting to the Divine Creator is the true purpose of my art. What makes Stained Glass a wonderful medium to create art is the individual uniqueness found in every sheet of glass. A rich spectrum of colors, different reflections of Light and dark, variety of textures, three dimensional qualities separate stained glass from other art forms. The glassmakers that mold a sheet of glass have provided an artist like me with a special vehicle to best express the inner visions that I desire to share with others. I hope everyone can appreciate the beauty of stained glass.

I wish to make my stained glass art affordable and available to the public. We are all unique, special individuals only separated by our physical form on Earth, reflecting different faces in the same Mirror. Yet what brings us all together is the desire within our Hearts to join again in Oneness.

Stained Glass is my passion as well as the essence of my art. The mere sight of a piece of stained glass has the power to generate a vision, to inspire me to mold and develop that glass to its full potential. I have had a fascination for color and light throughout my life. Although I graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from Humboldt State College in 1976, for years I found myself drawn to art. I took classes in painting, figure drawing, Native American art and crafts, ceramics, and art welding, and learned the basic fundamentals of shading, perspective and color combinations.

I was fortunate to be hired at Paul Crist Studio in 1979 and began making wonderful Tiffany Stained Glass Reproductions. Paul Crist Studio had an international reputation as one of the world’s leading manufacturers of Tiffany Lamp reproductions. At Paul Crist Studio I perfected a variety of skills necessary to create a Tiffany Lamp reproduction from a pattern of a Tiffany design and referencing a photograph. The resulting lamp looked so much like a real Tiffany it was difficult to tell the work from the original antique.

In 1992 I left my job at Paul Crist Studio. I moved to Joshua Tree, CA; in the High Desert, not far from Palm Springs in the Coachella Valley. I began creating my own unique art, utilizing my cherished stained glass. I started my own Stained Glass studio called Eclectic Reflections. I create Tiffany Reproduction lamp shades, as well as my own original lamps. I also design and create windows. I make other stained glass art such as candleholders, boxes, pyramids, healing pyramids, business cardholders, kaleidoscopes, wall mirrors, sculptural pieces, nightlights and wall sconces. I am intrigued with the beauty and wonders found in nature. I often incorporate crystals, and geodes into some art form, along with wood, semi-precious stones, and seashells. I love to collect these elements to later use in an art piece.

I have discovered that stained glass is my “Path with a Heart”. With stained glass I can create the visions that I see within. I hope to inspire, connect with, reach out, and perhaps teach others along the way. I am grateful to have had individuals throughout the United States and around the world acquire my art work.
